I make stuff.
ISA RUFFATTI
About Me
I am a Salvadoran-Italian freelance writer, photographer, comic artist, and videographer. My background is in journalism and I am currently studying a remote master's in screenwriting. I am fluent in both English and Spanish. My passions include making stuff, watching TV shows, hanging out with friends, and roller/ice skating.
WHAT I DO
JOURNALISM
I write news, book/film reviews, creative non-fiction, features about art, and personal essays. My work has been published in publications like The Telegraph, Rooted in Rights, Comfort Food Comics, and Chimera News.
PHOTOGRAPHY
I love taking pictures of people, capturing that "decisive moment" to tell a story while giving my photos an arty feel. My photography experience is mostly in street photography and photojournalism (3+ years) but I have dabbled in sports, event and portrait photography.
VIDEO
I have both shot and edited my own short films, journalistic video, and coverage of events. I have primarily used Adobe Premiere Pro and have dabbled in After Effects and Animate.
ILLUSTRATION
I made illustrations for a magazine, a Discord channel, a planned infographic, and some animations. My comic personal essay titled "What Rollerskating Taught Me About Self-Love" will be published in a magazine later this month.
CREATIVE WRITING
I write short stories and scripts and like writing comedies, sci-fi and fantasy. I am passionate about telling stories about Latinx women, mental health, family dynamics, disability and identity.
